some people like to piss all over the melting pot

alright alright, vulgar title on some level. but isnt it true? in reflection on the two readings i of course my first comment on the writing styles. i did NOT enjoy the first article as much as the second. nothing against the content i just couldnt stand the way the first author worded things. the second author used more personal references which helped with understand perspective.
as for the content: i have very mixed feelings about immigration. i love the concept of legal immigration. i think its amazing and very exciting to think about the fact that it is like a renewable cycle of life. the united states population began with immigration and the fact that it continues is lovely in my mind. but what right exactly do english speaking americans have to judge other people who do not speak english, or do not speak it well. in both of the readings, people were judged because they could not speak proper english and i believe in each example, the american pointing this out to them was very gramatically errored. the fact that "real americans" cannot speak proper english is not only sad but hypocritical. i believe that people are who they are and cannot change their roots, so why force them to feel as though their roots are unworthy? there is no logic or compassion behind saying that bilingual people should not be allowed to speak their native language in their own home. In my opinion it is important for people to learn english upon moving here simply so that they are able to communicate with those of us who do not also speak spanish or any other foreign language. but learning basic english does not mean eliminating your own and should not mean changing yourself for anything else. the concept of the melting pot was that america is a place for all people; there are so many difference races and ethnicities within each person living in the united states. i for example and part german, polish, italian, and swiss.
another thing that particularly bothered me was the fact that the signs and letters addressed to english speaking americans were not translated exactly for the spanish americans. that is just wrong. i was pissed when i read that because its downright obnoxious and in my opinion it is things like that, that give other countries in the world the impression that all american's are snobby self absorbed losers. that's all i have to say about that
